JOB SUMMARY
The person in this position oversees the daily operations of the Jessie Davis Park outdoor pool to ensure a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for all patrons. Responsibilities include supervising lifeguards, monitoring water quality, maintaining pool equipment, enforcing policies, and providing excellent customer service.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Supervises, schedules, and oversees lifeguards, pool attendants, and other aquatics staff to ensure adequate coverage and effective operations.
- Enforces safety protocols, performance standards, and facility rules to maintain a safe and compliant environment for patrons and staff.
- Monitors daily pool operations, including water quality, temperature, and chemical levels, to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Conducts routine facility and equipment inspections and promptly reports maintenance or safety issues.
- Addresses customer concerns, resolves conflicts, and promotes a welcoming and professional atmosphere.
- Conducts regular safety drills and provides in-service training to ensure staff readiness and regulatory compliance.
- Maintains accurate records related to attendance, incidents, chemical usage, and employee timekeeping.
- Opens and closes the facility as scheduled, ensuring security procedures are properly followed.
- Assists with special events, swim lessons, and other aquatic programs as needed.
- Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSÂ
Requires a minimum age of 18 years and prior experience in aquatics, pool management, or lifeguarding.Â
CERTIFICATION, LICENSE, AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSÂ
Current certifications in Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, and First Aid. Water Safety Instructor certification preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESÂ
- Knowledge of pool filtration systems, chemical testing, and water safety standards.  Â
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.  Â
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods while actively supervising aquatic activities; lift, carry, or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds; and perform physical tasks associated with pool operations. The position also requires the ability to work outdoors and remain attentive in varying weather conditions.
WORK ENVIRONMENTÂ Â Â Â Â
The work is typically performed at indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities, with regular exposure to water, pool chemicals, wet or slippery surfaces, noise, and varying weather conditions. Duties may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on operational needs.
