SNA International seeks a bright, collaborative Administrative Assistant 2 -Medical Records technician (MRT) with a strong work ethic to join the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory (AFDIL).  SNA International’s team works together in pursuit of the same cause: build a safe and just world by empowering organizations in the use of forensics, biometrics and identity intelligence.
 

 

***This is a 100% on-site position in Dover, DE
 

Critical Work Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional and administrative support necessary to successfully carry out multiple daily operations related to the overall effective functioning of the division to include family correspondence, processing death certificates and facilitating incoming/outgoing correspondence/inquiries.
  • Provide professional and administrative support necessary to successfully carry out the daily operations related to the QA/QC program of the division.
  • Provide administrative support to the staff of the division for successful archiving and records management of all casework.
  • Provide records management support for all medico-legal death records.
  • Accession cases into the Armed Forces Medical Examiner Tracking System (AFMETS) database; produce monthly reports; with descendant’s name, QC/QA checklist, details/autopsy report/toxicology report, and case material such as glass slides, paraffin blocks, and disks received.
  • Analyze medical records and autopsies to identify all pertinent diagnosis and procedures and comprehend the contents of the record, the terminology and the significance of the documentation.
  • Collect and enter autopsy data in computerized databases, collect all information relative to medical-legal investigations, including medical records from hospitals and other resources.
  • Review and analyze medical data; contact staff members to correct inconsistencies, deficiencies, and/or discrepancies in autopsy documentation; perform audit of duties.
  • Self-direct workflow to ensure that all duties are being carried out weekly.
  • Generate documents and reports and assist other sections as deemed necessary by supervisor.
  • Maintain Privacy Act considerations at all times in the handling of cases and the information contained within them.

 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • High school diploma with a minimum of 2 years work experience in the health sciences and/or experience in medical records operations; or an associate’s degree with work experience as a medical records technician with course work in Medical Terminology, Anatomy, Physiology, Human Pathology, or Pharmacology.
  • Completed all requirements for Medical Coding certification.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced skills in writing, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and required formats.
  • Have advanced knowledge in operating software applications, e.g. electronic mail, Outlook, Word, Power Point, Access and other software packages.
  • Possess personality traits and professionalism necessary to maintain team cohesion and to set a good working example.
