Position Summary: 

The Lead Kitchen Crew Member is responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations, assisting with food preparation, and supporting team members to ensure a clean, efficient, and guest-focused kitchen and dining environment. This role ensures adherence to all applicable state, local, and company standards, and helps create a positive and productive work atmosphere. 

 

Essential Responsibilities:  

  • Provides leadership and guidance to the kitchen crew, fostering a supportive and motivated team environment.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for problem resolution within the scope of authority and communicates unresolved issues to the supervisor.
  • Ensures all kitchen team members follow policies, procedures, and safety/sanitation regulations.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all sensitive information per company policy and applicable laws.
  • Greets guests when applicable and ensures excellent service in cashier and front-of-house functions.
  • Oversees accurate cash handling procedures, including setup, use, and closing of the register, and returns cash to the Main Bank.
  • Prepares the service area with necessary supplies (register tape, utensils, paper goods, etc.) and ensures readiness for each shift.
  • Monitors and enforces proper portioning, presentation, and food quality standards.
  • Assists in cooking, food prep, cashiering, bussing, and dishwashing as needed throughout the shift.
  • Ensures that all kitchen and dining areas are clean, organized, and operating efficiently.
  • Leads by example in maintaining proper food safety, temperature checks, and cleanliness.
  • Performs medium to advanced food preparation, including sauces, entrees, garnishes, and cold/hot items, according to recipes.
  • Coordinates prep activities using forecasted headcounts to ensure readiness and minimize waste.
  • Oversees proper storage, labeling, and rotation of food items.
  • Conducts visual inspections of prepared dishes to ensure quality, consistency, and presentation standards.
  • Completes and verifies all side work, prep logs, and temperature records.
  • Trains new team members and reinforces best practices and safety standards.
  • Supervises proper dishwashing operations and cleanliness of dish area throughout shift.
  • Assists with inventory, receiving, and restocking deliveries.
  • Reports supply needs to the Food & Beverage Manager in a timely manner.
  • Adheres to all fire and safety procedures and ensures team members follow lifting and equipment handling protocols.
  • Keeps management informed of all relevant team and operational activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Position Qualifications: 

High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

Physical Requirements: 

Ability to work in an environment with moderate to loud noise levels, maybe exposed to secondhand smoke except and varied light levels, including flashing lights. Ability to stand, walk, bend for entire shift.
