Manager - Benefits

 

  • Full-Time, 40 hours per week
  • Hours: Monday- Friday; 8a-5p
  • Location: Downers Grove, IL
  • Hybrid: 2 days a week onsite

The Benefits Manager is responsible for the effective administration, compliance, and continuous improvement of all employee benefit programs. This role uses independent judgment to manage day‑to‑day operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver a high‑quality benefits experience for employees. The Benefits Manager maintains current knowledge of federal and state regulations to ensure benefit programs align with organizational policies and legal requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Administer all company benefit programs, including health and welfare plans, retirement plans, leaves of absence, wellness initiatives, and voluntary benefits (40%)
    • Handles benefit inquiries and concerns to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution. Researches and responds to complex questions and advises and counsels management and employees on existing benefits.
    • Serves as a liaison between Duly Health and Care and third party benefits administrators and vendors in supporting Duly’s benefits programs including problem resolution, plan eligibility audits, and compliance requirements
    • Provides guidance, as necessary, to the Benefits Specialist and Benefits Associate in their day-to-day duties
    • Oversee the day-to-day administration of the leave programs, including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, short-term disability, long-term disability, state mandated leaves, and company leave programs
    • Provides input and recommendations for benefit program strategy, policies and procedures to effect continual efficiency and advancement of benefit programs
    • Frequently drafts various benefit communications and ensures legally required communications are up-to-date and distributed appropriately
  • Ensures timely completion and submission of required reports and audits (i.e. Form 5500s) including providing data to consultants and auditors for testing and preparation of reports. (15%)
  • Lead the benefit system setup and ensure accuracy of benefits administration (15%)
    • Analyzes eligibility, participation, and utilization for all benefits on regular basis. Uses data to monitor trends and provide recommendations
  • Preparation and execution of annual benefits open enrollment (10%)
  • Oversees benefit enrollment process including conducting various new employee orientations (10%)
  • Other duties and projects as assigned (10%)

Qualifications

License / Registration / Certification

Benefits certification preferred (i.e., CEBS, PHR)

 

Level of Education

Bachelor’s degree required, in a business or human resources context preferred

 

Years of Experience

5+ years of benefits administration experience

1-2 years supervisory experience

 

Describe Type of Experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in administering leave management (STD/LTD/FMLA/ADA)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office is required including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Advanced Excel Skills required.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA)

  • Working knowledge of benefits related regulations, including IRS Code Section 125, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, ACA
  • Proficient in HRIS software, Workday preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization and outside the organization
  • Ability to analyze and research problems in order to develop a course of action
  • Strong quantitative and detail orientation
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to be accurate, concise, and detail oriented
  • Strong presentation skills in group and individual settings
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Discretion and sensitivity to confidential information is required
  • May be required to work additional hours during peak times of the year
  • Travel to other Duly sites may be necessary

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $67K-$101K, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
