Job Summary:
Clean and maintain University assets per the standard set forth by the Manager of Custodial Operations. This position is full-time, 12-months, reporting to the Manager of Custodial Operations. Â
There are three full-time openings available as follows:Â
1.  Saturday through Wednesday, First Shift – the hours are from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
2.  Monday through Friday, First Shift – the hours are from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
3.  Monday through Friday, Second Shift – the hours are from 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Pay Rate: $18.50 per hour (plus $.75 cents shift differential for second shift)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Disposal of trashÂ
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned areasÂ
- Sweep, mop, and buff floorsÂ
- Maintain aesthetic appearance of entrance to buildingÂ
- Make sure custodial closet is fully stocked and organizedÂ
- Strip and wax floors as neededÂ
- Report facility issues to Facility Maintenance OfficeÂ
- Prep resident halls for each semesterÂ
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructionsÂ
- Ability to interact with customers (students, faculty, administration), co-workers and supervisors in a positive and helpful manner
- Demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of assigned tasksÂ
- English proficiency is required
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma with 1 year direct and 2 years indirect experienceÂ
- Prior floor care experience
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Â
- Valid state driver’s licenseÂ
- Must be in sound physical conditionÂ
- Stockroom or warehouseÂ
- High noise environmentÂ
- High dust, dirt, and grease environmentÂ
- Requires extensive safety trainingÂ
- Exposure to moving machineryÂ
- Alternative work schedule may be required
- Exposure to chemicalsÂ
- Requires protective devicesÂ
- Occasional lifting 25-50 lbs.Â
- Typically standing or walkingÂ
- Typically bending, crouching, stooping

Additionally, upon an acceptance of an offer of employment, this position will require a Motor Vehicle Report and a Physical Lift Examination.Â

- During this 90-day period, custodians are not eligible for benefits and cannot join the Teamsters Union.
