Job Summary: 

Under supervision of the Front-End Manager, Assistant Front-End Manager, and Service Desk Clerk, the Courtesy Clerk is responsible for interacting with guests and providing any services the guest needs. This includes bagging their groceries, finding products, and assisting them to their car. Other duties include keeping the store clean and keeping the store free from any potential hazards. Courtesy Clerks will also help cashiers with price checks and returning any unpurchased items or unsellable items to their respective locations. All the efforts of the courtesy clerks will be geared towards creating and promoting a positive and friendly work environment throughout the company. 

Job Distinctions: 

The courtesy clerk differs from other jobs in the front-end department as you are not responsible for cashiering, overseeing managerial duties, or any other duties that have to do with the transaction process. Courtesy Clerks will connect customers with any concerns outside of their duties to the service desk.

  • Bag guests’ purchases promptly and efficiently within proper guidelines.

  • Assist with price checks by verifying the price listed matches the barcode on the sign and product.  

  • Help customers find the location of products.  

  • Maintain clean and orderly store conditions by completing general cleaning duties, such as store sweeps, emptying trash cans, maintaining bathrooms, etc. 

  • Keeps parking lot clear of carts and returns them to proper store location. 

  • Removes clutter from carts and wipes the carts down before putting them away.  

  • Reshelve returned items or misplaced items. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned.  

Knowledge: 

  • Customer Service – Meeting customers’ needs and keeping high standards for service and evaluating customer satisfaction.  

  • Knowledge of the uses of chemicals and how to work with them safely.
