LOCATION:   This position requires onsite presence at our project sites at the Middle San Pedro River Conservation Area in Cochise County, Arizona and the Cook's Lake Conservation Area in Pinal County, Arizona.

ABOUT THE JOB

The Tepa Companies are seeking a Part-Time Biological Technician that will oversee and perform periodic easement compliance monitoring and maintenance of the properties under easement restrictions.

Job Functions:

  • Maintain regular communication on site conditions with the Bureau of Reclamation point of contact and three property landowners

  • Provides periodic patrol, monitoring and maintenance of the Riparian Management Zone (RMZ) fence lines, to include pruning of any brush that interferes with fence integrity.

  • Makes minor repairs to fence line wires when necessary.

  • Monitors stream flows and collect hydrology readings from gages.

  • Provides field notes on property condition, with emphasis on reporting invasive plant species and the sightings of any federal or state listed protected species encountered during field operations.

  • Collects photo monitoring data from established photo points.

  • Provides periodic maintenance and vegetation control on established trails.

  • Assists with the identification and removal of any trespass livestock found within an RMZ. If necessary, trespass livestock removal may be handled under a separate contract.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience related to biology, botany, wildlife, environmental science, or other similar programs

  • 2+ years relevant experience

  • Willingness to travel when needed to isolated field sites.

  • Some overnight camping may be required

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients

  • Demonstrated effectiveness in building working relationships and interacting with multidisciplinary teams

  • Strong interpersonal, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet multiple schedule deadlines

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel

  • Strong attention to detail
