Acquisition Logistician

Thompson Gray is seeking an Acquisition Logistician with experience in Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) support for the U.S. Army.

Job Duties:

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Acquisition Logistician to manage a critical Army test equipment modernization program. The ideal candidate brings five to ten years of Army acquisition experience with specialized knowledge in communication and electronic repair shops or Army calibration facilities. This role is essential for lifecycle management, maintenance planning, and logistical support of the Army's tactical communication systems and night vision capabilities. The successful applicant will have a deep understanding of the Army acquisition process as it pertains to the integrated logistics elements for an Acquisition Category (ACAT) Level III program.

  • Key Responsibilities:

    • Integrated Product Support (IPS): Work as a key member of an IPS team to implement performance-based metrics and create organic maintenance support strategies for commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) test equipment products.
    • Technical Review & Analysis: Review, evaluate, and approve logistical documents detailing electronic maintenance tasks, component Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), and Army technical manuals.
    • Type Classification & Reporting: Create and maintain documentation that supports Type Classification decisions. Provide comprehensive oral briefings to management and stakeholders to inform and support those decisions.
    • Maintenance Background: Use tactical experience to shape electronic repair strategies for test equipment programs that optimize organic capabilities in communication repair shops and calibration facilities, ensuring safety and standard operating procedures are strictly followed.
    • Equipment Maintenance & TMDE Oversight: Embed troubleshooting, repair, and lifecycle maintenance of the Army's tactical radio systems and night vision goggles (NVGs) into test equipment modernization efforts.
    • Logistics & Supply Chain: Coordinate supply chain logistics for electronic components, manage inventory levels, and develop strategies to mitigate part shortages or obsolescence.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of five years of documented experience managing Army electronic repair programs, communication shops, or calibration facilities.
  • Acquisition Expertise: Strong working knowledge of the Army acquisition process, specifically regarding integrated logistics elements for ACAT III programs.
  • System Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Army radio systems, night vision goggles (NVGs), and COTS test equipment.
  • Equipment Proficiency: Extensive experience working with and managing TMDE operations and organic maintenance strategies.
  • Clearance: Secret Security Clearance Level
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent military/civilian experience).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Certification in Life Cycle Logistics.
  • Prior military service in a relevant MOS (e.g., Signal or Ordnance Corps) with direct leadership over electronic maintenance or calibration facilities.
