IV&V Software Engineer

Job Description

The IV&V Software Engineer supports independent verification and validation activities for mission-critical defense system software at a government test facility on Redstone Arsenal. Employed under the Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) team, this role assists in evaluating software requirements, implementation, and testing to ensure compliance with system specifications, quality standards, and program objectives.

The position provides hands-on exposure to formal qualification testing, independent analysis, and participation in major program activities supporting complex, integrated software and hardware systems.

Core Technical Skills

Software and/or Systems Engineering

• Knowledge of Software Engineering principles
• Experience with Requirements Analysis
• Experience with Requirements Traceability

Software Programming/Tool Skills

• Experience with Python, MATLAB, Visual Studio

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Experience with Test Planning and Execution
• Experience performing:
• Requirements-Based Testing
• Regression Testing
• System Testing
• Ability to perform Root Cause Analysis

Documentation & Review Skills

• Experience reviewing Requirements Documentation
• Experience developing Test Plans, Test Procedures, and Test Reports
• Ability to review Code (as needed)

Analytical & Professional Skills

• Strong Critical Thinking skills - can think outside the box
• Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently (self-motivated) and maintain objectivity
• Ability to identify anomalies, risks and make recommendations accordingly

• Experience with IV&V programs
• Experience with mission-critical or safety-critical systems

Basic Candidate Requirements

• U.S. Citizen
• Active Secret Clearance (or ability to obtain if applicable)
• Bachelor's Degree in one of the following:
  • Computer Science
  • Engineering
  • Mathematics
  • Computer Information Systems
