Job Description
  • Position Summary

    The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and supporting organizational financial objectives. This role manages accounting staff, supervises month-end and year-end close activities, and helps develop and improve accounting processes and internal controls.

    Key Responsibilities

    Financial Management & Reporting

    • Oversee general ledger accounting and maintain accurate financial records.
    • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
    • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies.
    • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

    Budgeting & Forecasting

    • Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
    • Monitor departmental spending and analyze budget variances.
    • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to leadership.

    Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

    • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
    • Ensure timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
    • Monitor cash flow and support treasury activities.

    Compliance & Internal Controls

    • Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
    • Coordinate internal and external audits.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
    • Support tax preparation and filing requirements.

    Leadership & Team Development

    • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members.
    • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching.
    • Delegate tasks and manage department workload effectively.

    Process Improvement

    • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
    • Implement best practices and leverage accounting software tools.
    • Support system upgrades and financial reporting enhancements.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
    • CPA designation preferred.

    Experience

    • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
    • 2+ years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
    • Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and audits.

    Skills & Competencies

    • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
    • Effective communication and leadership skills.
    • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

    Physical Requirements
