Northwood Children’s Services is seeking a dedicated and experienced Kitchen/Food Service Supervisor to lead and oversee food service operations at Northwood Main Campus. Position Summary
The primary purpose of the Food Service Supervisor position is to provide for the efficient management and daily supervision of Northwood’s total kitchen and food service program at the Main campus. The supervisor is responsible for ensuring that qualified and highly skilled employees are available to support Northwood’s food program and that residents receive nutritious, well-balanced meals that meet their individual dietary needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, train, and support food service and kitchen staff.
- Ensure adequate staffing and promote a positive, professional, and team-oriented kitchen environment.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee the preparation and delivery of nutritious, well-balanced meals for children and adolescents.
- Ensure meals and food service practices meet established nutritional, dietary, health, and safety standards.
- Accommodate special dietary needs, allergies, medical requirements, and other individual food-related needs in collaboration with appropriate program, education, and clinical staff.
- Maintain a clean, safe, sanitary, and organized kitchen and food service environment.
- Ensure compliance with applicable health department regulations, food safety requirements, and Northwood policies and procedures.
- Oversee food and kitchen supply inventory, ordering, receiving, storage, and usage.
- Assist with food service budgeting and monitor costs to promote responsible use of resources.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure the food program supports the overall needs of Northwood’s youth and programs.
- Monitor the quality, consistency, and timely delivery of meals and food services.
- Provide ongoing training, guidance, and performance support to kitchen staff.
- Address operational issues and help maintain efficient day-to-day kitchen operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support Northwood’s mission and food service programs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Two (2) years of vocational training or equivalent education, plus four (4) years of experience in food services.
- Previous experience in food service supervision, kitchen management, or a related leadership role preferred.
- Managerial or supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of nutrition, food preparation, and dietary standards, particularly as they relate to children and adolescents.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary food service operation.
- ServSafe certification, or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
