General Maintenance Janitor

Starting Pay: $21.46

Specific Days and Hours: Sunday-Thursday (12:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m.)

Job Summary:

Provide onsite maintenance to all campus facilities, set up for events and assist Grounds crew with snow removal on campus. 

Key Responsibilities 

• To perform all work requests as assigned by Facilities Services. 
• Provide hard floor care, and carpeted areas as directed. 
• Empty trash and recycling as needed. 
• Perform event set-ups as requested. 
• Maintain all building entrances throughout each season.
  

Detailed Responsibilities 

• Sweeps, mops and polishes hard floor surfaces. 
• Empty, clean and line waste and recycle receptacles. 
• Performs work orders as assigned. 
• Performs event set ups as scheduled in EMS. 
• Assist Grounds crew with snow removal campus wide as needed. 
• Communicates with proper management staff as needed. 
• Observes and practices safe work habits.
  

Required Qualifications 

• Ability to operate floorcare machinery, shovel and snow blower. 
• Must be able to qualify for the Local 70 labor union after 30 days of employment 
• Good attendance is required. 
• Ability to work overtime as needed. 
• Employment for this position is contingent upon the results of a background check.
  

Physical Demands 

• Good vision is required to read material safety data sheets. 
• Must be able to perform heavy labor such as snow shoveling or moving furniture. 
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. 
• Ability to push up to 200 lbs. such as a garbage cart. 
• Ability to work in all weather conditions such as being outside to shovel. 
• Be able to do repetitive bending, lifting, climbing,of stairs and walking.
