Orthodontic Assistant

Qualifications we are looking for:

We are looking for somebody who is compassionate about helping others. Excellent people skills and enthusiasm are a must. No dental experience necessary, we offer extensive training for this position. Candidate must be a LDA or RDH with licensure in MN. Will provide training for new graduates and/or candidates moving from another dental office setting with limited orthodontic experience.

Overall, someone who is respectful to fellow team members, patients, and the Doctor and is genuinely nice and kind.  In our search qualities always outweigh qualifications.

Job Descriptions and Duties Include (but not limited to):

  • Establish a trusting rapport with patients, ensuring the highest level of patient customer service is given to all patients
  • Educate the patients on orthodontic care and treatment practices
  • Work chairside with patient care including assisting in placing and removing orthodontic appliances
  • Maintain patients’ charts and transcribe the doctor notes accurately
  • Keep units stocked and organized as well as clean and sterilized
  • Greet and seat patients
  • Prepare and maintain dental instruments, supplies and equipment
  • Take digital photos and x-rays
  • Take impressions for retainers, study models and appliances
  • Take intraoral scans for Invisalign, retainers and appliances
  • Prepare teeth for bonding and assist Doctor
  • Communicate instructions to patients and parents
  • Encourage, educate, and motivate patients to follow doctor’s recommendations
  • Be receptive to coaching and training from doctors and lead to better develop skillset
  • Maintenance of sterilization area, solutions, and equipment
  • OSHA management
  • Follow the dental office infection control plan to meet OSHA, CDC, and local standards
  • Other duties as required
