RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct supervision of an Assistant Hall Manager(s), secondary supervision to Resident Assistants.
Coordination and facilitation of meetings.Â
Handle minor conduct.
Oversee overall building operations.
Help develop an atmosphere in the hall in which students have a concern and respect for the rights and privileges of others.
Help students and staff in the hall develop standards of behavior necessary for maintaining an atmosphere conducive to study and community living.
Being available and accessible to residents and staff by spending a maximum amount of time in the hall and regularly interacting with the hall community on both weekdays and weekends.
Advising and counseling students, within the limits of training and capability, on personal, social, and academic concerns while maintaining strict confidentiality and making referrals when necessary.
Review duty logs.
Hold one on one meetings with staff as a means to keep up to date on student attitudes, academic achievements or difficulties, and health problems and to assist staff in building skills to help students with resolution of student conduct.
TIME COMMITMENT & TRAINING
Hall Manager appointments and placements are for the entire academic year.
15-20 hours per week
40 hours a week of summer availability preferred
Must be available for Fall Training: TBD – approximately 2 weeks prior to the start of fall classes
Must be available for Winter Training: TBD – approximately weekend prior to the start spring classes
Attendance at UW-Superior and/or Residence Life events
COMPENSATION
Semester stipend of $4,400
Furnished on-campus apartment
Jacket Cash/semester
REPORTS TO
Director and Associate Director of Residence Life.
QUALIFICATIONS
Hall Managers must be a current UWS student in academic good standing (2.75 cumulative GPA, 2.50 semester).
Two years relevant Residence Life or Student Affairs, or a Bachelor’s degree plus relevant experience are preferred.
This is a live-on position. All Hall Managers must live on-campus in assigned apartment throughout duration of their employment.
