Job Summary

Assist the Quality Assurance Manager in providing leadership and administering support in the areas of food safety and quality systems to assure the production and distribution of safe, quality products. 

 

Essential Functions

  • Provide support and assistance to QA Manager. 
    1. Provide leadership and administrative support in the areas of food safety and quality systems to assure the production and distribution of safe, quality foods.
    2. Ability to uphold regulatory, company, and customer standards.
  • Scheduling audits and regulatory inspections as needed. 
    1. Communication to senior management team when, where, and why. 
    2. Opening and Closing meetings schedule.
    3. Meeting minutes keeper.
    4. Uploading/filing documentation – until Document Controller takes over. 
    5. Ensures permits don’t expire, works with regulatory bodies as needed to keep permits current. 
  • Backup GMP orientation presenter 
  • Contractor GMP Trainer 
    1. Administer GMP Training and document training. 
  • Facilitating, organizing, and executing traceability exercises.
    1. Schedule time with the team, and ensure that it meets SOP requirements. 
    2. Schedule follow-up meetings, and assign corrective actions. 
    3. Review documentation to ensure traceability was achieved. 
    4. Create a report of an event. 
  • Supplier Assurance Coordinator – work with the procurement team to review supplier documents for acceptance into approved supplier status. 
  • Customer Service Rep:
    1. At the QA Manager's request, provides all customer-related documents/records as needed to onboard new customers. 
    2. Communicates with customers corrections and investigations for customer complaints. 
  • CAPA Coordinator – Champions root cause analysis and administers site corrective and preventive action program (CAPA), generating CAPAs in response to defined triggers including internal and external audit observations, negative trends, and complaints. 
  • Compiles data for Management review and creates PowerPoint. 
  • Works closely with departments and Hydrite to ensure sanitation standards are maintained. 
  • Assists Cheese Technical person with product development and/or product specifications. 
  • Support and assist in the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the SQF system.
  • Must report Safety, Food Safety, Quality, Sustainability and Housekeeping problems to the direct supervisor immediately.
  • Actively participate in teams and on projects to improve the metrics for a given area of responsibility.
  • Perform any other relevant duties and responsibilities defined in company policies and procedures, applicable legislations, or the SQF code.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance).
  • Complies with all company food safety policies and procedures (including Good Manufacturing Practices). 
  • Responsible for providing food safety and quality feedback to the appropriate manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in food science or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to apply statistical process control concepts.
  • SQF Practitioner Certified 
  • Knowledge of FSMA Food Safety Plan requirements.
  • Knowledge of Dairy Manufacturing GMP Hygiene requirements.
  • 2+ years of progressive experience in quality management.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical data, including legal documents. 
  • Experience with public speaking or adult education and training. 
  • Demonstrates good interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Punctual and regular attendance is required.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and delegate assignments to others.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activity to the supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to uphold regulatory, company, and customer standards.
  • English skills must be proficient to understand, read, write, and speak. 

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions

 

Physical Requirements:  

  • Physical effort is regularly required. 
  • May be trained and required to operate a forklift. 
  • Ascending or descending ramps, stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolding. 
  • Frequently involves crouching, stooping, kneeling, and/or climbing or balancing. 
  • Frequently involves lifting more than 50 lbs. 

 

Typical Environmental Conditions: 

  • Works in a food processing manufacturing facility with moderate noise. 
  • May be exposed to moderate to high noise levels (i.e., production equipment, forklifts, heavy traffic). 
  • May be exposed to humidity, intense heat and cold, outdoor weather conditions, fumes, and toxic chemicals. 
  • May work in areas with mechanical moving parts, above ground with a risk of fall, or areas with risk of electrical shock. 
  • May be exposed to ingredients that may cause allergic reactions and may be exposed to various allergen ingredients.
