Job Summary
Medication Aides provide accurate medication administration and quality care to clients and maintain a safe environment under the direction and supervision of a licensed registered nurse.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepping and administering client specific routine and PRN medications as directed.
- Verifying the right person, drug, dose, route, and time against the Medication Administration Record (MAR).
- Documenting interventions, vital signs, or other data related to medication administration.
- Maintaining confidentiality of clients.
- Reporting to the supervising nurse with any client issues or concerns.
- Assisting clients with activities of daily life (ADLs), as needed.
- Performing all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education / Credentials
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certified or registered with the Board of Virginia as a Medication Aide.
Experience
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in a medication aide role.
- Mental health and residential substance use disorder program experience preferred
Knowledge / Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Able to work independently and with a team
Working Conditions
- Direct care position
- Full-time, Part-time, 20-40 hours per week, weekdays and/or weekends vary based on shifts available - inquire to learn more, some holidays
- Full-time, 8:30am-5:00pm Monday-Friday
- Full-time, 7:00am-7:30pm, 3 12's with rotating weekdays and weekends
- Part-time, 7:00am-7:30pm Thursday, Friday
