Summary
The role is responsible for ensuring that the business receives all raw material requirements to meet customer demand and company objectives. The person is responsible for ensuring that all production raw materials and packaging materials are available when required but keeping within stock days objectives. The Operational Buyer is also responsible for the procurement of consumables for both production and office areas. A proactive approach towards continuous improvement is a vital act of the role. Since MOCOM adheres to ISO 45001 & 14001 (Safety and Environmental Standards) all employees have responsibilities that include maintaining a high awareness of quality, safety, environmental conservation of energy, water and resources.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Purchase and plan deliveries so as to ensure that they are received on site with all essential paperwork in order to fulfill production planning, including forecasting and entering safety stocks into the system.
- Maintain and foster supplier relationships to ensure contractual obligation are met and to ensure future business needs and outlook are communicated to ensure expectation are met.
- Utilize SAP to ensure that stock level objectives (including FIFO) are achieved without detriment to operational/customer requirements.
- Continuously work with the Production Planner and Director Procurement & Sustainability to achieve action points above.
- Assist maintenance, plant, warehouse, and office personnel in purchasing parts or materials.
- Maintain minimum level of stocked consumables.
- Assist maintenance with contacting vendors and service providers for facility maintenance.
- Process and match invoices to purchase order.Â
- Ensure that everything is purchased in a cost-effective manner to ensure both the cost savings and the cash flow for the business is optimized.
- Maintain and document quality management documents in accordance with the quality management system.
- Maintain and document regulatory documents.
- Monitor packaging stock reports to place orders and achieve deliveries as is required for operational requirements.Â
- Initiate the creation of new suppliers in SAP as well as document and maintain supplier approval forms.Â
- Continuously work with Product Development to find more cost effective solutions and process these through the Raw Material Approval Process.Â
- Monitor Raw Material inventory and take actions where applicable.Â
- Communicate and process any complaints to vendors on raw material quality or other concerns.Â
- Proactively look for continuous improvement in all areas of the procurement role.Â
- Work with the procurement function in Hamburg.
- Operate procurement role in compliance with the Group Quality System.Â
- Work with the Finance functions regarding payment to suppliers and regarding payment terms.Â
- Ensure the process related activities comply with the requirements of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, VDA 6.3 or customer specific requirements.
- All other duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED requiredÂ
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs, required
- SAP Experience strongly preferred
- Three to four years of purchasing or inventory control experience in an industrial setting preferred
- Experience in the Plastics or Chemical Industry preferred
- An equivalent combination of education and experience is required in lieu of the stated education and experience requirements.
