Job Title: Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist– Fabrication

Job SummaryÂ
The Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist is responsible for ensuring fabricated pipe spools andÂ
assemblies meet engineering drawings, client specifications, and applicable industry codes. ThisÂ
role is critical to maintaining fabrication quality through inspection, material traceability, testing
coordination, and accurate QA/QC documentation throughout the fabrication lifecycle.Â
Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
• Perform visual inspection of welds to verify quality, workmanship, and code complianceÂ
• Verify weld preparation, joint fit-up, alignment, and weld sizeÂ
• Ensure welding activities comply with approved Welding Procedure SpecificationsÂ
(WPS)
• Inspect pipe spools against isometric drawings for dimensions, orientation, slope, andÂ
fit-upÂ
• Verify incoming materials for correct specifications, heat numbers, and certificationsÂ
• Maintain material traceability throughout fabricationÂ
• Coordinate and witness Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities (RT, UT, PT, etc.)Â
• Review, document, and track NDT resultsÂ
• Maintain inspection records, weld logs, and quality documentationÂ
• Prepare, issue, and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
• Compile and maintain final QA/QC turnover packages for client deliveryÂ
• Ensure compliance with ASME, API, AWS, and client-specific standardsÂ
• Support and promote adherence to shop safety policies and proceduresÂ
Required QualificationsÂ
• High school diploma or GEDÂ
• 3+ years of QA/QC experience in pipe fabrication or industrial fabrication preferredÂ
• Ability to read and interpret piping isometrics and P&IDs
• Working knowledge of ASTM material specifications
• Strong understanding of welding processes and inspection methodsÂ
• Proficiency with inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and weld gauges
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on accurate documentationÂ
• Effective communication and organizational skillsÂ
Preferred QualificationsÂ
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
• NDT certifications (RT, UT, PT, MT)Â
• Experience in industrial, refinery, or power plant fabrication environmentsÂ
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Â
• Reduction in rework and NCRsÂ
• Accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of QA/QC documentationÂ
• Compliance with quality standards, codes, and safety requirementsÂ
