Role Overview

The Finance Operations Associate owns key components of the company’s revenue and project finance operations, including invoicing, accounts receivable management, project‑level P&L oversight, and contract‑driven financial workflows. This role plays a critical part in scaling finance operations as the energy portfolio grows, while maintaining accuracy, discipline, and transparency.

The Associate is expected to operate independently, partner cross‑functionally, and drive continuous improvement across finance operations processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end‑to‑end invoicing for a portfolio of energy projects, ensuring alignment with contractual terms and internal controls.
  • Manage accounts receivable performance, including aging analysis, customer communications, and escalation of at‑risk receivables.
  • Provide regular AR and billing metrics to Finance leadership.
  • Own or lead project‑level P&L tracking, including revenue, operating expenses, and variance analysis versus budget.
  • Partner with FP&A and Asset Management to improve visibility into project financial performance.
  • Maintain and interpret financial terms of customer contracts, PPAs, and leases within billing and reporting workflows.
  • Lead finance operations support for onboarding new projects and customers.
  • Support month‑end close activities related to revenue, AR, and project costs.
  • Identify, design, and implement process improvements to improve scalability, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Serve as a mentor or escalation point for junior analysts, as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in finance operations, accounting, or project‑based finance.
  • Direct ownership of invoicing and accrual processes.
  • Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams independently and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
  • Experience working with financial systems or ERP tools.

Preferred

  • Experience in energy, infrastructure, utilities, or asset‑heavy/project‑based businesses.
  • Experience with contract‑driven revenue models (PPAs, leases, subscriptions).
  • Exposure to project‑level P&L analysis or asset‑level financial reporting.
  • Experience improving or scaling finance systems and processes.
  • Knowledge of Energy/REC Markets such as PJM, NE-ISO, or ERCOT
