POSITION TITLE: Secondary Machine Operator
DEPARTMENT: Tarter Tube – Tube Mill
REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor
STATUS: Full-Time, Hourly

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Secondary Machine Operator is responsible for operating mechanical presses, single-end and double-end notching machines, and automated bending machines to produce accurate parts according to product specifications. This position plays a key role in supporting continuous production flow, identifying defects, and ensuring safety and quality standards are consistently met.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Operate mechanical presses, single-end notchers, double-end notchers, and automated bending machines
  • Produce accurate and usable parts according to product specifications
  • Identify defective parts and remove them from production
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Ensure all safety devices, guards, and equipment are in place and operational
  • Follow standard operating procedures and meet production goals
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure and basic measuring tools
  • Strong attention to detail and production-minded work ethic
  • Effective interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and maintain professionalism
  • Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Indoor, fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Repetitive motion for extended periods
  • Must be able to stand, bend, and lift as required by the job
  • Required to wear appropriate PPE at all times
  • Exposure to machinery, moving parts, and production noise
  • Must follow all safety procedures to minimize risk of injury
