Holtec International and its subsidiary companies are designing an unfailingly safe and secure source of clean energy using nuclear fission, called the SMR-300 small modular reactor. The position is offered by SMR LLC as a member of the Holtec International family, a global turnkey supplier of equipment and systems for the nuclear, solar, geothermal, and fossil power generation sectors of the energy industry.

 

Come join a growing multidisciplinary team of designers and engineers designing the next-generation nuclear power plant. Holtec International is seeking applicants for the role of Systems Engineer. The Systems Engineer is responsible for the design of a variety of components and systems for the SMR-300 power plant. This role requires frequent interfacing with other engineering disciplines and licensing groups as well as capable management of system integration activities, such as requirements development, component specification development, and calculations. The Engineer will be part of a team executing a U.S. Government cost-shared development program requiring efficient completion of engineering assignments.

 

Location(s): Camden, NJ or North Pittsburgh, PA

 

Primary responsibilities:

  • Leads system-level design and integration efforts with accountability for technical performance within assigned domains
  • Drives interface resolution, verification planning, and technical decision-making with limited oversight
  • Recognized as a technical authority within a subsystem or specialty area
  • Impact directly influences system performance, licensing readiness, and program risk posture

 

Requirements:

  • BS in an engineering discipline
  • Minimum 6 years of post-graduation engineering experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading system-level design efforts and coordinating cross-functional teams
  • In-depth knowledge of heat transfer and fluid dynamics fundamentals
  • Excellent technical writing, interpersonal, and effective communication skills
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Mechanical or other engineering discipline
  • Experience working with engineers and manufacturers to develop designs and drawings
  • Experience working in the nuclear energy field in a design capacity
  • Experience with Smart Plant, MathCad, AutoCAD, Pipe-Flo, Engineering Life-cycle Management (ELM), requirements management software (e.g. DOORS-NG), and HTRI software
  • Experience researching and developing requirements
  • Experience in developing and/or reviewing technical and procurement specifications
  • EIT and/or PE certification
