Compensation
$135000 - $185000 / year
Position Summary
The Senior Estimator Prepares cost estimates for projects in the planning, design, and construction phases. Produces bid proposals and prepares buy-outs.Â
Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
•   Prepares take-offs, estimates, and budgets for Railway Signal and Communications Systems workflows
•   Prepares buy-outsÂ
•   Attends pre-bid job walksÂ
•   Solicits and analyzes subcontractor/vendor pricing informationÂ
•   Reviews project plans and specificationsÂ
•   Reviews and incorporates historical data from prior estimates, purchase agreements and subcontracts to gain information for current bidsÂ
•   Reviews contract documents and attends pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimatesÂ
•   Reviews quotes, estimates, and bids with the DirectorÂ
•   Coordinates with other estimators in preparation for bid dayÂ
•   Ensures that bid documentation is logged and filed after bid dayÂ
•   Assists in the purchasing processÂ
•   Assists with training, supervision, and development of other estimating staff.Â
Required Skills and Qualifications
•   A minimum of 7 years of transit systems estimating experienceÂ
•   Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
•   Knowledge of estimating strategies and techniquesÂ
•   Proficiency in planning, scheduling, staffing, budgeting, and job costingÂ
•   Understanding of RFP and contract requirementsÂ
•   Understanding of all construction divisions and general construction knowledgeÂ
•   Ability to effectively supervise estimating staffÂ
•   Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesÂ
•   Strong verbal and written communication skills and presentation skillsÂ
•   Experience using estimating software and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
•   Works indoors, with some onsite/outdoor workÂ
•   Frequently sits, stands, walks, reads, writes, and uses a computer keyboardÂ
•   May be exposed to harsh weather conditions including very hot and very cold weather.Â
