UPMC is hiring a part-time Medical Assistant (20 hours per week) to support our Magee Women's Admin team in West Mifflin.
*Job title and salary will be based on qualifications and career ladder requirements. Â
Shift/Hours: 3 days a week, no set days but can be from Monday-Friday. Shifts can start anywhere from 6:30am-7:30am and go until 3:00pm-4:00pm, No Weekends or Holidays!

Responsibilities:
- Check schedules and organizing patient flow.Â
- Accompany patients to exam/procedure room.Â
- Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.Â
- Collect patient information/history, taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines.Â
- Relay instructions to patients/families.
- Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance.Â
- Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations.
- Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol.Â
- Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control.
- Clean according to scheduled maintenance program and keeping appropriate records.Â
- Manage inventory of supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms.
- Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).Â
- Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.Â
- Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures.
- Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs.Â
- Perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure.Â
- Assist physicians with procedures.Â
- Document patient information into the medical record.
- Answering calls and providing pertinent information including patient education as directed.
- Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.Â
- Complete forms/requisitions as needed.Â
- Schedule appointments.Â
- Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.Â
- Prepare and managing charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately.Â
- Other front office responsibilities, as required.
- Under the direction and supervision of a physician, administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate.
- Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.Â
- Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.
- Previous medical assistant and/or direct patient care experience highly preferred
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
