Job Summary: The Facilities Maintenance Technician helps maintain all American Heritage Railways and DSNGRR-owned building facilities and properties throughout the Durango, Colorado area. This position will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our facilities by performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks. Your primary goal will be to maintain a safe and functional environment for employees and visitors. This position will assist the Facilities Maintenance team in establishing a system and schedule for required maintenance services, upkeep and capital improvements on property. This is a hands-on position, covering regular maintenance duties such as landscaping, painting, carpentry, and renovation in order to keep all Durango facilities in good working condition. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Regularly inspect all Durango-based buildings, equipment, and appliances to verify proper function and perform regular upkeep Inspect Durango-based properties for structural and aesthetic damage and repair, as appropriate, to retain daily operations and ensure employee and guest safety Proactively monitor and replace old/damaged appliances and appurtenances related to each property. Establish safeguards and response plans to handle fire-related or other property-based emergencies and draft exit routes with appropriate signage in coordination with the Public Safety department Diagnose problems and facilitate the timely repair of company owned assets such as air-conditioning units, heating units, building plumbing, electrical and structural items Clean and prepare vacated buildings and offices, when needed, to accommodate new occupants Regularly communicate with company leadership and fulfill deadline requests and ad-hoc tasks when necessary Assist with other special projects related to operations and grounds, such as Event Park duties, as needed Education, Skill and Work Experience Requirements: Proven experience in facilities maintenance or a related field. Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. Proficiency in using maintenance tools and equipment. Ability to troubleshoot and solve maintenance issues efficiently. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Prior experience working in a commercial building-repair/maintenance position, preferred Ability & desire to perform physically demanding work within a varying work schedule Valid drivers license preferred. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and ongoing reasonable suspicion and post accident tests if applicable. Work Environment: Working in and around rail yard within industrial shop environment Occasional to frequent work in tight spaces (attic or crawl space), high areas (rooftop or scaffolding), and in varying climate conditions Varied schedule sometimes requiring full-time hours with overtime work, or to be on-call and available after hours, when needed Majority of time spent in and around construction projects or zones Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds Qualifications
