Job DetailsJob Location: Durango, CO 81301Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 Salary/yearOVERVIEW: The Horticulturist, under the supervision of the Landscape Manager, helps to manage the clubhouse grounds, specific Glacier Club property, entry statements and plant material adjacent to the golf course and roadways, including, but not limited to planted and native trees, planted and wildflower areas, pertinent irrigation systems, and constructed and natural hardscapes. For more information, contact Glacier HR.    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Aids the Landscape Manager in managing plant material throughout the property, including clubhouses, common areas, other Glacier Club property, and residences.   Performs administrative duties in coordination with the Landscape Manager   Supervises annual color ordering, planting, and maintenance with a team of Gardeners  Shares responsibility for daily presentation and maintenance of entrance drive from Hwy 550 to Clubhouse parking lot Maintains a healthy and responsible plant nursery at the greenhouse with replacement inventory, communicating with Landscape Manager about orders and projects Responsible for managing HOA and private residential landscapes in coordination with the landscaping team; including turf, beds, trees, annual color, and irrigation. Works with Landscape Manager to develop preventative maintenance program for plant material, including wildlife protection, pest management, and winter maintenance Trains employees on proper techniques for landscape maintenance, including safe and efficient use of all tools, materials, and equipment  Works with Landscape Manager on recommendation, design, purchasing, and implementation of landscape plantings When requested, offers expertise to staff and owners on the proper care of plant material Manages and trains other employees on the proper maintenance of the indoor plants at the clubhouse, fitness facility, and additional areas as needed Snow removal administration; including snow removal agreements, scheduling, billing and coordination with other departments Supervises seasonal holiday exterior decorations and lighting   QualificationsJOB REQUIREMENTS: Physical activity is moderate to demanding and will require bending, kneeling, and lifting   Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds   Must be able to use hand and power tools   Must be able to walk around clubhouse grounds, maintenance facility, and other landscaped areas, and safely operate pickup trucks, golf carts, and utility vehicles Mental activity includes intermediate math skills for calculating data figures for projects and orders Must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate with employees, management, members, and public   Must possess a reasoning capacity to be sensitive to environmental and public relation issues EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience or ability to learn Microsoft Office Extensive knowledge of characteristics, growth habits, and cultivation of a variety of plants Extensive knowledge of characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers, soil conditioners, pest control methods and materials Landscape design creativity Supervisory skills Knowledge of landscape installation, including irrigation and plant material 2 years’ experience in landscape maintenance and design or related field Valid driver’s license.
