Job DetailsJob Location: Purgatory Resort - DURANGO, CO 81301Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $24.00 - $30.00 Hourly Vehicle Maintenance Technician II General Purpose Under general supervision, the Vehicle Maintenance Technician I performs skilled preventative, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure the operational readiness of the Purgatory Resort fleet. This role involves the inspection, service, and repair of a diverse inventory of mobile equipment, including snowcats, passenger trucks, snowmobiles, and stationary equipment on a continuing and revolving basis. This is a Full Time, Year Round position that offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance, 401K options, and a free season pass for you and your dependents. All full time, year round positions are eligible for an annual bonus in addition to regular wages. For a full list of benefits visit Employee Resource Site.   Essential Duties/Responsibilities:   Service & Repair: Execute skilled maintenance on company vehicles such as Snowcats (e.g., C-110, C-115), Snowmobiles (e.g., S-7, S-14), and Trucks (e.g., T-181, T-187). Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, Lube-Oil-Filter (LOF) services, and fluid flushes to mitigate downtime. Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to OSHA compliance and departmental safety guidelines. Documentation: Complete incoming work orders in a timely fashion and submit daily work reports detailing projects initiated and fulfilled. Diagnostic Troubleshooting: Identify issues ranging from basic electrical faults (e.g., lighting, battery testing) to mechanical failures in field environments. Inventory & Tools: Maintain personal toolset and ensure shop equipment is used efficiently and safely. QualificationsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities: Technical Knowledge: Foundational understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, specifically pertaining to passenger trucks and snowmobiles. Physical Proficiency: Ability to lift components up to 75 pounds and perform manual labor in extreme alpine environments. Operational Readiness: Precision, memory, and tactical discrimination are essential for identifying misaligned gears, hydraulic leaks, or electrical fault codes.   Education and Experience:  Education and Training Preferred Education: Trade school completion is preferred. Certifications: Possession of current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification is preferred. Licensing: Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a background check with a clean driving record. Professional Experience Required Years: A minimum of two years of combined mechanical experience. Industry Context: The experience must specifically be within a ski resort environment. Required Aptitude: Candidates must have a strong mechanical background and/or aptitude. Technical Knowledge: Solid knowledge of vehicle operation is essential, specifically for passenger trucks and snowmobiles. Working Environment/Physical Activities:  The role is highly active, with 70% of time spent outdoors across all seasons in constantly changing weather conditions, including sub-zero temperatures and icy surfaces. Noise levels frequently reach 60–110 decibels, and hazards include high-voltage electrical systems, welding flash, and petroleum distillates. Technicians must be comfortable with frequent stooping, climbing, kneeling, and reaching to access heavy equipment components.
