What You’ll Do:
- Teach fitness classes using safe, effective, and appropriate methods tailored to participant skill levels.
- Plan and deliver engaging class sessions lasting 30 minutes to 1 hour based on student interest.
- Ensure studios, equipment, and fitness spaces are clean, safe, and in good working order; report maintenance needs to the Center Director.
- Lead group fitness sessions and/or work with personal training clients.
- Monitor participant well‑being and provide encouragement to support healthy habits.
- Uphold and enforce all fitness facility policies, rules, and regulations.
- Participate in regular in‑service training to maintain and enhance skills.
- Maintain personal fitness levels appropriate to leading classes.
- Complete required records, reports, and administrative tasks.
- Perform related duties as assigned to support program operations.

Minimum Qualifications
- American Red Cross CPR/AED certification
- Group exercise certification OR personal training certification from a credible organization
- OR a degree in Physical Education
- No specific experience required
Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $22.80 to USD $36.01. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
