Position Summary

The Intern- Facilities Reliability will support reliability and maintenance initiatives that ensure the consistent, safe and efficient operation of critical facilities and equipment.  This role is designed to build foundational skills in reliability engineering through hands-on exposure to preventive and predictive maintenance programs, asset performance tracking, and root cause analysis.   

This position will report to the Associate Director of Reliability to help advance the vision of Reliability Excellence.  The intern will be based in RTP, NC.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support Facilities and Laboratories

  • Learn Asset Management strategies including Criticality Analysis and Failure Modes and Effects Assessments

  • Review notes from group sessions and summarize conclusions in a standard presentation

  • Partner with Facilities and Laboratory management

  • Observe maintenance workflowds

  • Participate in Criticality Assessments and FMEA sessions

  • Assist in translating analysis into maintenance strategy

  • Maintain database of asset criticality

  • Communicate status of effort

  • Present results of efforts and next steps

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a BS in Engineering or closely associated technical field

  • Must be at least a (Sophomore, Junior, Senior) in university at the time of your application

  • Strong sense of accountability and ability to prioritize multiple tasks

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Flexible and willing to support a variety of tasks for the (department) team

  • Available to work full-time at the office during the summer months (May-August) at an AskBio office

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills

  • Prior internship, work, or volunteer/extracurricular experience

  • Prior experience working in a lab environment

  • CMMS experience is preferred

  • Prior experience with maintenance and computerized maintenance management systems

  • Proactive and solution-driven mindset

  • Strong sense of accountability and ability to prioritize multiple tasks

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Flexible and willing to support a variety of tasks for the (department) team
