Builds Java and Spring Boot-based middle tier applications, messaging, and Oracle-centered database backends. Develops customer facing secure web applications using Angular-based front-end User Interfaces in an Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud computing environment. Builds and deploys applications in a DevOps environment using Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools. Improves system performance utilizing performance tuning and executes production support tracing using Splunk and Datadog. Prepares reports and correspondence for project specifications, activities, and status. Develops software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participates in architecture design teams.
- Defines and implements application-level architecture.
- Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
- Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
- Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
- Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
- Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
- Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
- Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
- Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
- Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
- Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
- Advises senior management on technical strategy.
- Mentors junior team members.
- Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
- Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and maintaining customer facing Web applications and services in a financial or retail services environment.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and maintaining customer facing Web applications and services in a financial or retail services environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing, developing, and maintaining customer facing Web applications and services using Java, Spring framework, Node.js, Angular, and JavaScript; designing, developing, and implementing Cloud-based software solutions according to RESTful Web services architecture using Spring framework; and designing, coding, and reviewing software solutions in Java technologies for Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) based applications.
- DE developing customer facing and secure Web applications according to Java or Spring frameworks using classical Model View Layer (MVC) architecture, Azure SSO, AWS KMS, and OAuth technologies; and designing and developing object model and Spring Batch implementation for back-end services in a scalable multi-tiered environment.
- DE developing distributed, low-latency, high throughput applications, using Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, Jenkins, uDeploy, and testing frameworks Cucumber and Cypress; and designing, developing, and maintaining publishing/content management applications using Quadient Tool.
- DE deploying and monitoring enterprise Web based services, including using Jenkins, NPM, and Maven for packaging; using Git for version control, using Jira, ServiceNow, and Quality Center for issue tracking, and using Splunk for log tracking; providing CD according to Agile methodologies; and monitoring customer facing, business critical applications using Splunk and DataDog.
