Sales Trainer
JOB SUMMARY
The Sales Trainer is responsible for assisting sales representatives create trust, demonstrate product value, establish legitimate urgency, confidently ask for the business, and professionally resolve objections. The Sales Trainer will combine classroom instruction, role-playing, field coaching, and performance analysis to improve close rates while maintaining an honest, customer-focused sales experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Always exhibits the highest standard of personal ethics and adheres to all Pella Carolina policies.
- Promote a culture of safety and accountability by adhering to established protocols, proactively identifying potential risks, and fostering a workplace environment where safety is a shared priority.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining a training program consisting of training materials, scripts, role-playing, demonstration guides, scorecards, and certification standards for all new hires and current sales representatives.
- Create objection-handling frameworks and role-play common concerns with a focus on clarifying the real concern, responding with empathy, reinforcing value, and confidently asking for the business again without creating an uncomfortable or misleading customer experience.
- Train sales representatives on how to establish rapport, set expectations, uncover homeowner’s needs, concerns, priorities, buying motivations, and how to build values before discussing price via workshops, call reviews, classroom sessions, and individual coaching.
- Track training effectiveness through close rates, average sales, discounting, financing usage, cancellations, and customer feedback.
- Coach sales representatives on the appropriate use of genuine urgency, including current promotions, installation availability, seasonal considerations, and the cost of delaying necessary improvements.
- Ensure that sales representatives consistently execute the proper sales process and ensure homeowners are provided with world-class service.
- Partner with sales leadership to identify performance gaps and create targeted coaching plans.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must meet company driver qualification and insurability requirements and maintain acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Must be dependable, neat in appearance, a good listener, and personable with good communication skills for direct customer contact.
- Demonstrated success in a one-call-close or same-day-decision sales environment.
- Strong understanding of consultative selling, product demonstrations, value building, objection resolution, and closing.
- Proven ability to coach representatives with different experience and skill levels.
- Confident public-speaking, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to provide direct, constructive, and actionable feedback.
- Strong organizational and performance-management skills.
- Willingness to travel locally for ride-along and field coaching.
- Ability to use sales data and customer feedback to identify coaching opportunities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or EquivalentÂ
- Three or more years of successful in-home sales, sales leadership, or sales-training experience.
- Experience in windows, doors, roofing, HVAC, bath remodelling, solar, home improvement, or another in-home sales industry preferred.
- Experience using heat-lamp or product-performance demonstration preferred.
