GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Operate a motor grader in the heavy equipment classification to maintain County roads. Responsible for performing skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance and construction work on County highways, roads, secondary roads, auxiliary structures, and rights-of-way.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operates a variety of trucks and heavy equipment to construct, repair, and maintain roads, properties, and structures; hauls materials, and transports vehicles and equipment to job sites using various trucks and transporters; clears County roadways of snow and applies sand, as necessary.
- Ensures that safety rules and regulations are adhered to and that the work zone and all equipment are in safe operating condition.
- Maintains records of work performed and materials used.
- Operates a motor grader and various types of equipment to maintain gravel roads.Â
- Spread gravel across the road surface to fill holes and maintain proper road crown.
- Shape and restructure road shoulders. Shoulder up gravel to black-top to maintain the required slope and width of the road shoulder.
- Maintain ditches to ensure proper drainage.
- Plow snow.
- Inspect and repair roads damaged from rain and erosion.
- Minor maintenance of equipment to include daily inspections.
- Reports for off-duty work for emergency operations for Public Health, Safety and WelfareÂ
- Operates various types of CDL equipment
- Other duties as assigned.
- Represents the County with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED supplemented by one year of progressively responsible roadway maintenance experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License with CDL Class A Endorsement
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record Â
