Compensation Director, Go to Market and North America | Total Rewards / Compensation

Do you want to shape compensation strategy for some of our fastest-growing, most commercially diverse businesses, and help sales and marketing leaders make better, faster, fairer pay decisions? Join Thomson Reuters and play a key role in advancing how we attract, retain, and reward talent across our Go to Market organization and North America region.

As Compensation Director, Go to Market and North America, reporting to the Vice President, Compensation, you will lead compensation strategy and advisory work for our Legal, Tax, Audit and Accounting Professionals, and Corporates businesses, while also supporting Marketing and our Print business. You will also own regional cross-business compensation matters for North America, partnering closely with HR and business leaders across multiple functions. You'll oversee key compensation processes (including the Annual Compensation Process), help evolve pay range and incentive structures, and provide expertise and implementation on regulatory and policy considerations for North America — all while collaborating with global peers and the Design & Analytics team to deliver insight-driven solutions.

About the Role

  • Lead compensation strategy and advice for Go to Market businesses: Provide guidance, recommendations, and analysis to HR and business partners across Legal, Tax, Audit and Accounting Professionals, and Corporates, and in support of Marketing and Print, balancing market practice with internal principles.

  • Own regional cross-business compensation matters for North America: Act as the primary point of contact for North America compensation topics that cut across business lines, ensuring consistency, market competitiveness, and regulatory compliance.

  • Own and deliver the Annual Compensation Process (ACP) for your businesses: Work in conjunction with globally distributed peers to oversee pre-review data readiness, plan set-up and validation, and enable leaders and HR teams through communications, training, and in-process support.

  • Develop and maintain pay and incentive structures for sales, marketing, and go-to-market roles: Partner with the VP, Compensation, our expert Analyst team, and global peers including our Revenue Operations colleagues, to analyse market movement and evolve base pay ranges, sales incentive plans, and go-to-market compensation frameworks.

  • Govern compensation change activity in Workday: Review, challenge, and approve compensation-related requests; collaborate with HR Digital to improve Workday functionality and strengthen BAU and annual process delivery.

  • Act as a global reward partner and framework owner: Support your assigned business or functional areas, contribute to global compensation initiatives, and own assigned job families within the Global Role Framework, including sales and go-to-market job families.

  • Drive insight, compliance, and change: Partner with the Analysts to specify models and reporting; advise on evolving North American pay-related regulations and policy; and provide compensation expertise for M&A transition and integration activities affecting your businesses.

About You

  • Extensive compensation experience with a sales and marketing focus: Typically 10+ years in compensation/reward roles, including significant experience designing and managing compensation and incentive programs for sales, marketing, and associated go-to-market functions; Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience).

  • Sector relevance: Prior experience in SaaS or a similar technology environment is highly desirable, particularly designing sales incentive plans, quota-setting frameworks, or go-to-market compensation structures.

  • Strong technical capability: Demonstrated strong quantitative skills and advanced Excel capability, ideally actively engaged in the use of AI tolls to support compensation work, with the ability to translate data into clear, practical and creative recommendations for technical leaders.

  • North American regulatory expertise: Proven experience managing compensation across US and Canadian legal and regulatory frameworks, with confidence advising on policy and compliance considerations.

  • Effective partnering across a diverse business portfolio: Comfortable operating with significant autonomy in a hybrid environment, collaborating with colleagues across multiple business lines, functions, and time zones; demonstrated engagement with business strategy to inform compensation management.

  • Clear communication and stakeholder management: Skilled at listening, influencing, and explaining complex compensation topics to commercial and HR leaders.

  • Continuous improvement mindset: Track record of simplifying, automating, and streamlining compensation processes; experience developing and delivering AI-enabled solutions is a distinct advantage.
