SUMMARYĀ Ā 

Mortenson is looking for a Senior Safety Manager who will provide management, leadership, direction, and support within Mortenson's Zero Injury Safety program for multiple project teams and construction sites.Ā 

Ā 

RESPONSIBILITIESĀ 

  • Plan, lead, and manage the implementation of Zero Injury Safety Program elements and initiatives throughout the operating groupĀ 

  • Lead and support safety program collaboration across multiple organizations, including trade partners and joint-venture partnersĀ 

  • Conduct and review site hazard assessments with project management during planning and construction phasesĀ 

  • Develop, schedule, and conduct safety training, including train-the-trainer sessions, and create group-specific safety orientation contentĀ 

  • Oversee project documentation, tracking, and analysis of all Safety, Injury, and Hazard statistics, trend analyses, and OSHA reportsĀ 

  • Monitor onsite construction activities through audits and observations, documenting deficiencies and corrective actionsĀ 

  • Lead incident reporting, investigation, and analysis, and coach safety managers in high-risk plan reviewĀ 

  • Provide professional direction and mentorship to Safety staff, including development opportunities and hosting learning sessionsĀ 

  • Maintain operational knowledge of construction safety, OSHA, ANSI, and other applicable standards, regulations, and proceduresĀ 

  • Support the operating group safety director and safety leadership team in achieving and maintaining safety performance metrics, and assist in incident response as neededĀ

QUALIFICATIONSĀ 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or related fieldĀ Ā 

ORĀ Ā 

  • High school diploma plus CHST, OSHA 500 and a minimum of 14 years of continuous construction experience leading crews and planning work (including at least eight years as a dedicated construction safety professional responsible for managing large project and/or multi-project safety programs, conducting and reviewing hazard analyses and developing controls, conducting safety training, and working with project teams and leadership to plan work activities) and previous experience working on very large, complex projects with a high volume of subcontractor workers and managing a team of safety professionals’ preferredĀ 

  • At least eight years as a dedicated construction safety professional managing large project/multi-project safety program, conducting hazard analyses, developing controls, and conducting safety trainingĀ 

  • Experience working on large, complex projects with a high volume of subcontractor workersĀ 

  • Managing a team of safety professionals preferredĀ 

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferredĀ 

  • Organizational and computer skills to support multiple project teams, acting as regional/market safety lead where appropriateĀ 

  • Positive and professional attitude, strong customer service skills, and ability to interpret and communicate company policiesĀ 

  • Effective public speaking and presentation skills, strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skillsĀ 

  • Ability to coach and influence operating group and project leaders in safety managementĀ 

  • Active listening skills and effective communication, including openness to diverse input and feedbackĀ 

  • Ability to travel up to 100%Ā

The base pay range for this role is $113,500 MIN - $170,300 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).Ā

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.Ā  This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.Ā
