Senior Construction Estimator

Summary of Position

We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Construction Estimator to join our team. This role is central to the success of our projects, supporting informed decision-making from early concept through completed construction documents. The Estimator will be responsible for producing accurate, evolving estimates throughout the plan-development lifecycle and communicating those estimates clearly to build confidence with internal teams, clients, and partners.

The ideal candidate can develop reliable estimates, understand how costs shift as designs mature, and articulate pricing, risks, and assumptions in a way that drives alignment and action. This position is a hybrid position and open to individuals in Eagle Idaho AND the Tri-Cities area of Washington.

Qualifications & Requirements

ā— Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
ā— Proven experience as a Senior Construction Estimator in residential and commercial construction.
ā— Project management experience.
ā— Proficiency with construction estimation software and tools.
ā— Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Ā 
ā— Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
ā— High attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy.
ā— Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
ā— Strong organizational and time management skills.
ā— Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
ā— Working knowledge of value engineering concepts

Typical job tasks

ā— Prepare conceptual estimates during schematic design using benchmarks, historical data, and clearly defined assumptions.
ā— Develop progressively refined estimates through design development, including scope clarifications, alternates, value engineering options, and risk allowances.Ā 
ā— Produce detailed line-item estimates from construction drawings, including quantity take-offs, subcontractor and vendor pricing, and market analysis.
ā— Track, document, and clearly explain cost movement from schematic design through design development and construction documents, highlighting key deltas, risks, and opportunities.
ā— Analyze project plans, specifications, and supporting documentation to accurately define scope and quantities.
ā— Collaborate closely with Development, Design, and Construction teams to align budgets with pro formas and overall project goals.
ā— Identify potential cost risks early and present pricing scenarios to support design decisions and go/no-go milestones.
ā— Solicit, evaluate, and manage subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure competitiveness and quality.
ā— Organize project specifications using master formats and industry standards to ensure clarity and consistency.
ā— Maintain and continuously update historical cost data, assemblies, and unit pricing to strengthen future conceptual estimates.
ā— Prepare and deliver clear, persuasive, and executive-ready presentations that communicate estimates, assumptions, and value propositions effectively.
ā— Build trust with stakeholders by delivering estimates that are technically sound and easily understood by non-estimators.
ā— Leverage technology effectively, including estimation software, scheduling platforms, project management tools, spreadsheets, and blueprint take-off software.
