The LV Product Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, application, and ongoing optimization of low voltage instrumentation and control cable products. This role contributes to product design, technical execution, and customer support activities while ensuring alignment with internal requirements, industry standards, and market needs.

 

The LV Product Engineer operates as a key technical resource across engineering, manufacturing, quality, sales, and applications teams. This role plays a critical part in executing product line expansion, addressing customer technical needs, and translating market requirements into practical, manufacturable solutions.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support development and implementation of cable designs that meet defined electrical, mechanical, and environmental performance requirements
  • Translate customer, application, and market requirements into practical cable constructions and technical specifications
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to support product trials, validation, and commercialization activities
  • Serve as a key technical resource for customer inquiries, including product selection, application guidance, and resolution of technical or quality-related issues
  • Assist in troubleshooting product performance, manufacturing challenges, and field issues, driving timely resolution and root cause identification
  • Identify and support implementation of cost reduction, material optimization, and product improvement initiatives
  • Develop and maintain product documentation, including specifications, test reports, and engineering data
  • Contribute to application guidelines, technical training materials, and internal knowledge sharing
  • Translate field feedback and customer insights into recommended product improvements and design updates
  • Support evaluation and development of products for emerging and specialty applications, including industrial control, electronics, and automation systems
  • Participate in packaging design and optimization efforts to ensure product integrity, handling efficiency, and cost effectiveness
  • Maintain working knowledge of relevant industry standards (UL, NEC, ICEA, IEEE) and ensure product compliance

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Manufacturing, or related discipline)

Minimum Experience Required

  • 3–7 years of relevant experience in product engineering, wire and cable, or related engineered products

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of wire and cable design, materials, and construction methods, preferably in low voltage instrumentation and control applications
  • Solid understanding of product performance characteristics and application requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues
  • Ability to balance technical, manufacturing, cost, and customer considerations
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to interact across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams
  • Must be able to travel approximately 40%

Computer Equipment and Software Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with engineering systems, product databases, or analysis tools preferred
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Manufacturing, or related discipline)
  • Minimum of 3–7 years of relevant experience in product engineering, wire and cable, or related engineered products
  • Working knowledge of wire and cable design, materials, and construction methods, preferably in low voltage instrumentation and control applications

  • Exposure to packaging engineering or product delivery optimization
