Human Resources Assistant
Position Summary
The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the HR Department and serves as a resource to employees, leaders, and applicants. This position supports recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, HR records, compliance, and employee engagement while promoting a positive employee experience and organizational culture.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist with recruitment, including job postings, application review, interview scheduling, candidate communication, and recruitment records.
- Coordinate pre-employment requirements, including background checks, drug screenings, references, employment verification, and required documentation.
- Coordinate new hire orientation and onboarding and serve as a key HR contact for new employees.
- Prepare employment documents, including offer letters, job changes, and separation documentation.
- Respond to routine employee and leader questions regarding HR policies and procedures.
- Support employee engagement, recognition, wellness, and culture initiatives.
- Maintain accurate personnel files, HRIS information, and confidential employee records.
- Process employee changes, including transfers, promotions, status changes, and terminations.
- Assist with compliance related to FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, and applicable healthcare requirements.
- Track employee licenses, certifications, background checks, health screenings, and required education.
- Assist with performance reviews, introductory evaluations, HR reporting, audits, and regulatory surveys.
- Prepare HR metrics related to recruitment, turnover, retention, vacancies, and workforce trends.
- Support HR projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- Healthcare, senior living, long-term care, hospice, or nonprofit experience preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, customer service, and confidentiality skills required.
Physical Requirements
This position primarily works in an office environment and requires prolonged sitting, computer use, occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting to 25 pounds.
