Job DetailsJob Location: East Hartford, CT 06118Education Level: High SchoolTravel Percentage: NegligibleJob Shift: DayJob Category: Education Goodwin University Magnet School System is looking for a bilingual (Spanish-speaking) Tutor for our Multilingual (ML) program at Connecticut River Academy High School and Rivertech Academy. We are seeking a skilled and empathetic Bilingual Tutor to provide one-on-one or small-group instructional support to diverse learners. In this role, you will help students overcome language barriers by explaining academic concepts in both English and Spanish. The ideal candidate possesses high school subject matter knowledge, strong cultural awareness, exceptional patience, strong active listening, an approachable demeanor, and excellent communication skills to foster an inclusive learning environment for multilingual learners. Duties include: working with educators to support multilingual learners on assignments and homework, interacting with scholars to provide guidance, emotional support, and motivation to complete tasks. Supporting ML students at the after-school tutoring program on Thursdays. The tutor is needed to work with Multilingual learners in 9th-12th grades 25 hours/week: 7:30 a.m.- 1:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday, with extended hours on Thursdays until 4:30 Core Responsibilities Deliver instruction: Provide personalized tutoring in specific academic subjects or general coursework using both target languages. Clarify concepts: Use dual-language strategies to explain complex vocabulary, instructions, and core curriculum material. Adapt materials: Modify standard educational resources and lessons to align with the student's current language proficiency level. Assess progress: Evaluate student comprehension, track academic growth, and adjust tutoring pacing accordingly. Communicate updates: Share regular progress reports with educators and the program coordinators in their preferred language. Promote cultural inclusivity: Incorporate culturally relevant examples to build trust and elevate student confidence.  QualificationsRequired Qualifications Language proficiency: Native or near-native fluency (written and verbal) in English and Spanish Education: High school diploma required; college degree or current enrollment in an education program preferred. Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring youth.
