This individual is responsible for performing high-quality welding and fabrication work on a variety of metal components used in HVAC, piping, and structural systems. This role requires technical skill, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards in both shop and field environments. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Perform MIG, TIG, and/or stick welding on various metals and materials. Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and welding symbols. Measure, cut, and prepare materials for welding and assembly. Inspect completed welds for accuracy, strength, and compliance with specifications. Set up and maintain welding equipment, tools, and consumables. Work collaboratively with fabrication and installation teams to meet project goals. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and equipment checks. Identify and report defective materials or unsafe conditions. Assist in training and mentoring welding apprentices or helpers as needed. ACCOUNTABILITIES Continual learning and development in the body of knowledge through FirstCall Academy, to ensure we set the bar for skill level in the industry. Elite level of customer service, to ensure we continue to be the FirstCall our customers make for their HVAC and mechanical needs. ORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT This position is reported directly to the Project Manager. QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification preferred. 3–5 years of welding experience in commercial or industrial environments. Proficiency in reading blueprints and performing precision welds. Ability to use cutting, grinding, and measuring tools safely and effectively. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Certified welder (AWS or equivalent) preferred. Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods. Excellent teamwork and communication skills. BEHAVIORAL PROFILE Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal numbers. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs. Operating Skills Ability to discern between tasks to determine how best to accomplish goals and organize task/people assignments to get results in a timely way. Ability to figure out processes and simplify them in order to maximize workflow. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is continually required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
