Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading and managing all HR functions within a healthcare environment, including employee relations, recruitment, compliance, benefits administration, and performance management. This role ensures alignment with organizational goals while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and employment laws. The HR Manager serves as a strategic partner to leadership and a resource for employees.

This position is on-site daily in our East Lansing and Lansing location. 

Key Responsibilities:

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee concerns and conflict resolution
  • Foster a positive work environment and promote organizational culture
  • Conduct investigations and recommend appropriate corrective actions
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and retention strategies

Recruitment & Staffing

  • Oversee full-cycle recruitment for clinical and non-clinical roles
  • Partner with department leaders to identify staffing needs
  • Ensure timely hiring of qualified candidates, including licensed professionals
  • Manage onboarding and orientation processes

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state/provincial, and local employment laws
  • Maintain adherence to healthcare-specific regulations and accreditation standards (e.g., credentialing, licensure tracking)
  • Oversee HR policies and procedures and ensure they are up to date
  • Manage audits and reporting requirements

Compensation & Benefits

  • Administer employee benefits programs (health, retirement, leave policies)
  • Ensure accurate payroll coordination and compliance

Performance Management

  • Lead performance review processes and support managers in evaluations
  • Develop performance improvement plans as needed
  • Support leadership development and succession planning

Training & Development

  • Ensure compliance with mandatory healthcare training (e.g., safety, HIPAA/privacy, infection control)
  • Support leadership coaching and staff development initiatives

HR Operations & Systems

  • Maintain HRIS and employee records
  • Track key HR metrics (turnover, vacancy rates, etc.)
  • Develop and implement HR policies and best practices

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in healthcare
  • Experience supporting clinical staff preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of employment law and healthcare regulations
  • Experience with credentialing, licensure, and compliance tracking
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership and coaching capabilities
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality
