About Big Eddy Campground
Big Eddy Campground is a unique destination where guests gather to experience the natural beauty of Maine’s wilderness. As a Big Eddy Site Assistant, you’ll be an essential part of this experience—helping create a welcoming, safe, and well-run environment while supporting daily campground operations alongside the Site Manager.
Essential Responsibilities:
Create a warm, welcoming experience for every guest.
Greet visitors, register campers, and manage user fees.
Keep an eye out for safety concerns and report them.
Maintain campground facilities, including:
Shower house (clean, stocked, and guest-ready).
Privies (cleaned daily).
Cabins (turnover cleaning after guest checkouts).
Help keep the grounds clean, safe, and beautiful.
Assist with light carpentry and maintenance projects.
Support Chewonki programs and visiting groups.
Share knowledge about Chewonki programs and offerings.
Residential Responsibilities:Â This is a residential position. On-site camp site is provided as part of the role and is available only while you are actively employed. Housing ends when employment concludes.
Qualifications:
Must pass a Criminal Background Check.
Valid driver’s license and driving record approved by Chewonki’s Insurance Carrier.
Excellent customer service skills and a passion for working with people.
Experience in a campground setting or similar outdoor environment.
Ability to problem-solve and adapt to shifting priorities.
CPR/First Aid certification required.
Wilderness First Aid Certification preferred.
Ability to live and work in a small, remote community.
Pay & Benefits:Â
$17 - $18/hour (depending on experience)
