Summary:
The Senior Manager of Quality Assurance oversees the execution and coordination of all quality systems for raw material receiving, in plant operations, and overall supply-chain. This role is directly responsible for managing the Quality Assurance and Sanitation teams. The individual will constantly assess and respond to issues of product quality with the primary purpose of assuring consistent and compliant delivery of product meeting Company standard. The position is responsible for driving continuous quality improvement initiatives across the organization. A strong balance between technical expertise and business acumen is required, including the ability to teach and coach staff.
What can you expect on the job? -
QUALITY & FOOD SAFETY:
Demonstrates knowledge of the implementation of food safety principles and sanitation program requirements to control, mitigate and alleviate risks
Leads the review of QP considering new technology, process or emerging hazards, sharing best practices
Leads a special situation related to any food safety, quality and regulatory challenge.
Leads traceability and recall exercises for food safety, quality or regulatory events.
QUALITY PROGRAMS:
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of Quality Policy expectations to deliver base quality programs and drive continuous improvement.
Applies QP at internal and external manufacturers, identifies gaps and corrective actions to ensure compliance.
Leads application of CIQ in the Plant.
Develops consumer-relevant specifications.
Applies process control principles to work.
Supports the Plant to implement the corporate standards, where applicable.
Deep knowledge and proven success in applying root cause analysis, problem solving tools and CAPA tracking.
REGULATORY COMPLIANCE:
Demonstrates knowledge of global and local relevant regulations, policies, religious and registration requirements for ingredient, formula, claims, labels, packaging including product artwork and registration compliance
Able to interpret the fundamental relevant regulations, religious requirements and policies and guidelines applicable to product.
Provides input and guidance to create new non-regulated product claims.
Provides technical input and recommend solutions using risk assessment process to confirm product compliance.
Analyzes, summarizes, and formulates regulatory positions for new innovations and markets and creates specifications.
Participate in external association/government meetings, building network and contributing to regulatory technical matters.
INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CONTACTS:
This position will interact with the management team as well as employees and outside suppliers, customers, auditors and corporate contacts. The position is responsible to lead SQF audit and any other QA and FS related audits including customer audits and FDA audits.
What will make you successful in the role?
Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field.
5+ years relevant quality experience
2+ years leading teams
2+ years’ experience with GFSI Quality Systems such as SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000 or IS 9000 (preferable)
3+ years’ experience in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Good Laboratory, Practices (GLP's), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point Systems (HACCP), ISO, Regulatory Guidelines, Sensory, and/or Microbiology.
FDQI certification (Food Defense Qualified Individual) is required and Food Defense awareness training at FDA website should be done.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule, when necessary, in East Moriches, Shirley, and Southampton.

Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with known allergens such as milk, eggs, nuts (tree nuts), wheat, soy.

Sign-on bonus will be provided to the right candidate if necessary.
Salary and Benefits:
The base salary range for this position is $122,000 to $167,750; the exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education and location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
