Job Description:

Summary: 

The PT Trainer - Truck Driver Training is primarily responsible for providing an educational experience enabling students to learn and exhibit the safe operation of semi-trailer trucks through the use of classroom instruction, behind the wheel training and actual driving performance on the road and in the yard. Part-time trainers will be expected to spend most instructional time in the yard and on the road with students.

Compensation for the PT Instructor is $30.00-33.39 an hour. This position is required to work during the evenings.

Essential Duties:

  • Facilitate truck driver training program lessons.

  • Communicate and demonstrate truck driving skills and abilities to students.

  • Use evaluation instruments designed to measure course objectives.

  • Drive, inspect and clean trucks periodically.

  • Recommend service for trucks when needed.

  • Perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Active/valid Class A CDL license with acceptable driving record.

  • Pass DOT physical and drug screen.

  • At least 2 years of truck driving experience.

  • Knowledge of mechanical aspects of tractor/trailers and DOT rules and regulations.

  • Ability to relate to students to assist them to increase retention and student success.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to tailor teaching style to individual students.

  • 5 or more years of experience as a driver.

  • Experience instructing or Training CDL.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
