Facility:

Located in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Pyramid Healthcare's Hillside treatment center provides specialized detox and residential treatment specifically for men, addressing the unique challenges they face in recovery. Our medically-supervised detox offers 24/7 support, while the residential program builds essential life skills, emotional resilience and relapse-prevention strategies — all on a 16-acre campus overlooking the Pocono Mountains.

Hillside provides medically monitored 3.7 MM care for clients with complex medical needs — including advanced liver disease, diabetes, cardiovascular issues, open wounds and frailty — with on-site labs, wound care and medication management. A specialized xylazine withdrawal management protocol is coming soon. The 16-acre campus fosters camaraderie among men in recovery alongside experiential therapies like drumming, gardening, yoga and meditation.

Summary:

The Nurse Supervisor (RN) provides leadership and shift-level oversight of nursing operations within the program. This role supports safe medication management, regulatory compliance, high-quality client care, and coordination with the interdisciplinary treatment team. 

The Nurse Supervisor serves as a clinical resource to nursing staff, assists with administrative and operational responsibilities, and supports continuity of care for individuals receiving substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health treatment services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in daily shift communication, including nursing huddles, interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, and operational updates.  
  • Communicate client status updates, discharge needs, and care coordination items to nursing staff and leadership. 
  • Ensure client discharges are completed timely and that clients leave with appropriate prescriptions, medications, instructions, and continuity of care support.  
  • Identify and monitor high-risk clients and collaborate with medical and clinical staff to support appropriate care planning and client safety.  
  • Maintain accurate bed board, census, and client status information and communicate changes to admissions and leadership as appropriate.
  • Provide on-call coverage as assigned and assist with staffing coordination, scheduling support, and shift coverage needs. 
  • Communicate effectively with medical, clinical, and support staff to ensure coordinated and comprehensive client care.
  • Participate in chart audits and monitoring activities, identify documentation deficiencies, and support corrective action initiatives. 
  • Review Medication Administration Records (MARs) for completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.  
  • Monitor detoxification protocols and client length of stay to ensure adherence to medical and regulatory standards.  
  • Assist in responding to client grievances, incidents, medication concerns, and quality-of-care issues.  
  • Support nursing leadership with staff interviews, onboarding, training, performance management, coaching, and disciplinary processes as assigned.  
  • Coordinate with pharmacy providers to support safe, timely, and cost-effective medication management.  
  • Assist with medication prior authorizations and medication-related approvals as needed.
  • Ensure laboratory results are reviewed, addressed, and documented appropriately and obtain/transcribe physician orders as required.  
  • Verify required pregnancy (HCG) testing prior to medication initiation when clinically indicated.  
  • Ensure informed consent procedures are completed in accordance with policy, licensing standards, and regulatory requirements.  
  • Provide direct nursing care as needed, including assessments, medication administration, treatment planning support, detoxification monitoring, vital sign monitoring, and client education.
  • Assist physicians and medical providers in delivering client care services. 
  • Must exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality with regard to all company information  
  • Completion of all required trainings as designated by the company and accreditation/licensing entities.  
  • Other duties as assigned.  

Education, Experience:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Pennsylvania required  
  • Experience in substance use disorder treatment, detoxification, or co-occurring mental health settings preferred 
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Working knowledge of medication administration, detox protocols, and nursing documentation standards  
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, confidentiality requirements, and applicable state licensing regulations
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certification as required by facility

Physical Demands  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands, reach, bend, and assist with client mobility and nursing care activities. The employee may occasionally lift, move, or transfer up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment  

This position operates in healthcare, detoxification, residential, and behavioral health treatment environments with individuals experiencing substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions. Employees may encounter exposure to medical equipment, bodily fluids, viruses, diseases, infections, and behavioral health crisis situations during the course of providing services. The role may require shift work, weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage based on operational needs.
