Job Title: Clinical Applications Specialist 

Reports To: Clinical Applications Manager

This full-time, in-person position is based in either North Easton or Mansfield and requires travel to all company locations across Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

 

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Under the supervision of the Clinical Applications Manager, the Clinical Applications Specialist will help to optimize the Athenahealth PM/EMR and support the day-to-day operations including new implementations, training, content management, and quality assurance. The Clinical Applications Specialist will possess and demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of and skill in the areas of healthcare applications, technology, and/or education as evidenced by experience in providing classroom and/or on-site training in health information systems (EHR). They must have the ability to understand healthcare software, explain technical concepts to non-technical professionals, and to translate administrative and operating requirements into clear, specific, and actionable curricula, and then implement and teach those curricula. 


 Essential Job Functions

 

  • Assist the Clinical Applications Manager to train new hires, Front Desk staff, Medical Assistants, Fellows, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Physicians, and Admin staff. 
  • Responsible to assess clinical, administrative, and financial roles to help optimize training.
  • Create and maintain documentation of manuals for new trainees for each job description and workflows.
  • Participate in resolution of Athena Help Desk tickets and identifying Athena issues
  • Join in workflow analysis, technical assessment, and development of training schedule
  • Training of providers and staff, meeting with staff at the sites, Soft Go Live and Go Live support, and post-implementation support.
  • Maintain continuing education activities to ensure knowledge related to system enhancements and changes of processes are communicated to the end users.
  • Assist Clinical Applications Manager on projects for optimization.
  • Assist Clinical Applications Manager with different electronic applications including, M*Modal, Epic, Radix, etc. 
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Manager to meet department needs.  

 

Requirements

 

  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be well organized and detail-oriented.
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, organized, and dependable.
  • Candidates should be able to work independently, demonstrate exceptional communication and listening skills, and have the ability to understand the needs of all and develop workflows as needed.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with multiple levels of staff and Physicians.
  • EHR experience preferred 
  • Prior orthopedic clinical experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Ability to work occasional varying shifts based on business needs.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient records.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Associate’s or relevant experience accepted.
  • Must be able to travel to all sites if/when necessary
