What You'll Do:

The Senior Accountant will provide advanced assistance to the Accounting Manager in the overall operation of the Accounting Department and serves as a backup to the Accounting Manager in their absence. Execute projects with varying degrees of complexity as assigned. Perform accounting duties and reporting in compliance with GAAP and state and federal regulations.

Compensation:

  • Eau Claire Market: $99,600 - $114,600 annually.
  • St. Croix Valley/Minnesota Market: $114,700 - $131,900 annually.
    • This is an exempt-level, salaried position. (candidates with significant related experience may be higher)

What's Needed For This Position:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance and either five years of progressive accounting experience or three years of financial services accounting experience. Must be bondable.
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP, complex accounting principles, financial reporting requirements, and financial services operations, with the ability to independently analyze issues, make sound decisions, and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex accounting activities, investigate discrepancies, prioritize work effectively, and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to accuracy while handling confidential financial information, preparing high-quality work products, and maintaining compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work independently and within a team environment, prepare reports and business correspondence, mentor others, and provide accounting-related education and guidance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and technology tools, with the ability to quickly learn new systems, manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing business needs, and perform effectively in a high-volume environment.

We'd Love To See:

  • Cost Accounting and Financial Data Analysis experience.
  • Financial Services Accounting experience.
  • Previous mentoring experience.
  • Data extraction system experience (SQL, PowerBI, etc.).
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.

Work Schedule/ Location:

  • Full-Time salaried position; Hours will generally be Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm with occasional evening and weekend hours, as needed.
  • This position is part of Royal's workplace flexibility program and has the ability to be hybrid remote after approximately 2-4 months of training and proficiency in the position.
  • When not working remote, the office location is flexible at either the Corporate Office in Eau Claire, WI, or at a Royal Minnesota office based on office availability and candidate preference. 
  • This position requires residency within Royal’s office footprint

Training:

  • Prior to starting a normal work schedule, new Royal team members must attend Foundation Training at our Corporate Center in Eau Claire, WI from 9:00am - 4:30pm on Monday and Tuesday during their first week of employment. Out of town learners will be reimbursed costs related to travel and lodging.
  • Foundation Training covers fundamental information about Royal’s culture and core values which sets the stage for team members to be successful within our organization.
