Tasks/Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Preparation of proteins, vegetables, sauces, etc.
  • Proper food storage as well as proper and clear labeling
  • Consistent following of guidelines and methodology in relation to proper product handling, cooking methods, kitchen standards, policy and procedures
  • Stock and maintain sufficient amounts of food products to ensure proper service flow
  • Portion products to HH set standard and recipe specification
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment. E.g., tables, shelves, blenders, slicer, walk-in, etc.
  • Preparation of items used on all line-stations e.g., sautĂ©, broiler, grill, fry
  • Follow standards for assembly of all cold prep items
  • Handling, storing, and rotating of all food products
  • Periodic inspection of product received from deliveries. Could include rejection of product if quality doesn’t align with average product standard. E.g., near term expiration, heavy blemishing, rot/decay, damaged dry goods, etc.
  • Wearing gloves while preparing ready-to-eat foods/proper hand washing between preparation of products and changing of gloves
  • Periodic checking of refrigeration cooler temperatures. Coolers should be no higher than 41 degrees.
  • Complete all assigned or listed food prep items as quickly and safely as possible
  • Providing assistance to cooks and chef when needed
  • Comply with sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards
  • Perform additional tasks assigned by supervisor, sous-chef, or executive chef
  • Monitor quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure standards are met


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Ability to work in a very fast paced environment - timing is key in our line of work. 
  • Willingness and ability to learn all menu items, their ingredients, and the appropriate preparation technique.  
  • Strong kitchen knowledge and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong organization and active listening skills.
  • Exceptional time management skills.
  • Passion and desire to assist in the preparation and delivery of outstanding meals.

 Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Prep Cook. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work on your feet most of the shift. 
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, crawl, access awkward spaces
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs. 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
