Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing manufacturing machinery, processing equipment, the mobile fleet, and the manufacturing plant. This role requires a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and resolving issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on machinery, equipment, and systems, including conveyors, feeders, mills, and kilns.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing issues to ensure the smooth operation of the plant.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures while performing maintenance tasks, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including logs, inspections, and repairs.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager and other team members to prioritize and schedule maintenance tasks.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, and regulatory standards.

 

Qualifications 

 

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in maintenance or related field is preferred.

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a maintenance or technical role, preferably in a manufacturing or similar environment.

Skills

  • Strong mechanical and technical skills, including knowledge of electrical, automation, and hydraulics, are preferred but not required
  • Experience with conveyors, feeders, mills, and kilns.
  • Skilled in metal fabrication, cutting, and welding.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair a variety of manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in an environment with dust and noise, and around equipment with higher than ambient temperatures.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, and climb ladders for extended periods.
