Position Summary

The Electrical Specialist is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical systems and equipment throughout the Eddyville Chlor Alkali facility. This position performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance while troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation issues that impact plant operations.

 

The Electrical Specialist partners closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and contractors to improve equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support operational excellence within a Process Safety Management (PSM) manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment and systems throughout the facility.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on motors, motor control centers (MCCs), drives, switchgear, power distribution systems, and electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, and control system issues to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
  • Support calibration, testing, and maintenance of plant instrumentation and control devices.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
  • Assist with equipment startups, shutdowns, and commissioning activities.
  • Support capital improvement projects, equipment upgrades, and facility modifications.
  • Coordinate with Operations and Engineering to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and documentation within company systems.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety policies, electrical codes, environmental requirements, and Process Safety Management (PSM) standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, electrical system performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Perform other electrical maintenance and reliability duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Industrial Electricity, Instrumentation, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Three or more years of industrial electrical maintenance experience.
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motors, motor controls, power distribution, and instrumentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams.

Preferred

  • Experience in chemical manufacturing, chlor-alkali, refining, power generation, or other process industries.
  • Experience working with PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation, and process control systems.
  • Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM).
  • Experience with CMMS or SAP maintenance systems.
  • State electrical license or industrial electrical certification.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb ladders, work at heights, and access all areas of an industrial manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including arc flash protection, and safely perform electrical work in an industrial environment.

Working Conditions

This position operates within an active chemical manufacturing facility and regularly interacts with production, maintenance, engineering, and contractor personnel. Occasional overtime, after-hours support, and schedule flexibility may be required to respond to equipment failures, planned outages, and operational priorities.
