Job Description

Ā What Will I Be Doing?Ā Ā 

Ā Ā 

Here are just a few things you can expect to do daily:Ā Ā 

Ā 

  • TeamĀ memberĀ must be able to work in aĀ team orientedĀ and safety conscious environment. ā€œSafety Firstā€ expectations include, but are not limited to, PJHA process, Observation process, and compliance with all company / site safety guidelines and procedures.Ā 

  • Assigned tasks list to include, but not limited to, repairs and preventive maintenance on tanks, vessels, pipingĀ systemsĀ and structural systems.Ā 

  • This position may require moderate supervision and follow-up.Ā 

  • Tasks also include layout and fabrication of new and replacement piping systems, as well as installation of valves and related piping equipment. Repairs and preventive maintenance to be performed inĀ conformanceĀ with established standards.Ā AssistĀ in formulating preventive maintenance standards / work procedures while performing those duties andĀ provideĀ work order feedback on discrepancies noted in service delivery.Ā 

  • Must have working knowledge of the following topics; blueprint reading, ability to draw and interpret isometric diagrams, or be able to be certified to B31. 1 Pipe Welding Code as well as 6-G in stainless steel. Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler.Ā 

  • Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.Ā CutsĀ workpiece, using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knife. Melts lead bar, wire, or scrap to add lead to joint or to extrude melted scrap into reusable form. Installs or repairs equipment, such as lead pipes, valves, floors, and tank linings.Ā 

  • Observes tests on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications. Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, usingĀ micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments.Ā RemovesĀ rough spots from workĀ piece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.Ā 

  • WeldsĀ components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. Heats, forms, and dresses metal parts, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment. Ignites torch andĀ adjustsĀ valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.Ā 

  • Deciphers engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations. Develops templates and other work aids to hold and align parts.Ā IdentifiesĀ required equipment and weldingĀ method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.Ā 

  • Works from elevated areas such as ladders, platforms, scaffolding, etc.Ā utilizingĀ fall protection equipment as necessary to complete tasks. Must have the flexibility to work all shifts including holidays and weekends as demanded by the job. Perform other tasks, including but not limited to mechanical repairs and maintenance, as assigned by SupervisorĀ 

  • EnsuresĀ compliance with all company / customer regulations, policies, and procedures.Ā 

  • Achieve performance expectations set forth as part of performance appraisals to include employee development planning.Ā 

  • Communications with all team members toĀ assistĀ the development ofĀ short- and long-rangeĀ planning in assist of the company’s goals andĀ objectivesĀ 

  • MaintainĀ personal tools required for your job to include an up to date documented personal toolĀ list. Required toolĀ listingĀ to be supplied as part of employment.Ā 

  • MeetĀ physicalĀ requirements of the job. Physical requirementsĀ ofĀ the job will be provided to you prior to employment.Ā 

  • Perform assigned tasks in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.Ā 

  • Accurate andĀ timelyĀ administrative duties to include, but not limited to, time accounting and work order completion.Ā

Special Note: This job description summarizes the duties of two types of welders.Ā Ā ā€œPipe Fittersā€ perform much of the preparation work while ā€œPipe Weldersā€ are certified and perform the actual welding. We are currently seeking an individual who is certified,Ā willingĀ and able to perform the duties of both Pipe Fitter and Pipe Welder.Ā

  • 2+ years of Industrial Pipe Fitting, Pipe Welding and Repairs. CertificationĀ required.Ā 

  • 1-2 years of education in industrial maintenance technologies preferred.Ā
