Title: Welding & Pipefitting Technician
Location: Eddyville, IA
Salary: Up to $45.00 per hour
Hours: Monday thru Thursday 6:00 am-4:30 pm
This position will focus on repair and fabrication of pipe, sheet and structural assemblies in manufacturing facility environments.

Ā What Will I Be Doing?Ā Ā

TeamĀ memberĀ must be able to work in aĀ team orientedĀ and safety conscious environment. āSafety Firstā expectations include, but are not limited to, PJHA process, Observation process, and compliance with all company / site safety guidelines and procedures.Ā
Assigned tasks list to include, but not limited to, repairs and preventive maintenance on tanks, vessels, pipingĀ systemsĀ and structural systems.Ā
Rigging and lifting of equipment, tools,Ā partsĀ and assembliesĀ in accordance withĀ Rigging and Lifting policyĀ
This position requires the employee to work without supervision.Ā
Tasks also include layout and fabrication of new and replacement piping systems, as well as installation of valves and related piping equipment. Repairs and preventive maintenance to be performed inĀ conformanceĀ with established standards.Ā Ā
Must have working knowledge of the following topics: blueprint reading, ability to draw and interpret isometric diagrams, be able to be certified to B31.1 and B31.3 Pipe Welding Code in 6-G position in carbon and stainless steel. Lay out, position, andĀ securesĀ parts and assemblies according to specificationsĀ
Tack-welds andĀ
weldsĀ components and assemblies using GTAW, SMAW, MIG and gas welding processes. Use plasma machine, acetylene torch, band saw and cut off machines to size material. Use pipe threading and cutting machine to prep threaded pipe.Ā Ā
Observes tests on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications. Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, usingĀ micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments.Ā RemovesĀ rough spots from workĀ piece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.Ā
Deciphers engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations. Develops templates and other work aids to hold and align parts.Ā IdentifiesĀ required equipment and weldingĀ method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.Ā
Works from elevated areas such as ladders, platforms, scaffolding, etc.Ā utilizingĀ fall protection equipment as necessary to complete tasks.Ā Ā
Must be able toĀ operateĀ and have knowledge of simple and complex heavy industrial equipment such as forklifts, scissors lifts, boom lifts, and skid loaders.Ā
Work in confined spacesĀ
Must have the flexibility to work all shifts including holidays and weekends as demanded by the job.Ā Ā
Perform other tasks, including but not limited to mechanical repairs and maintenance, as assigned by SupervisorĀ
EnsuresĀ compliance with all company / customer regulations, policies, and procedures.Ā
Achieve performance expectations set forth as part of performance appraisals to include employee development planning.Ā

Special Note: This job description summarizes the duties of two types of welders.Ā Ā āPipe Fittersā perform much of the preparation work while āPipe Weldersā are certified and perform the actual welding.Ā We are currently seeking an individual who is certified,Ā willingĀ and able to perform the duties of both Pipe Fitter and Pipe Welder.Ā

0-5 years of Industrial Pipe Fitting, Pipe Welding and RepairsĀ
